HFESTG - Virtual Environments
...and now for another Human Factors Minute!
Did you know that the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society has 24 technical groups that are concerned with the human factors aspects of specific application areas?
One of those is the Virtual Environments Technical Group.
The Virtual Environments Technical Group (VETG) is concerned with human factors issues associated with human-virtual environment interaction.
Their goal is to maximize human performance efficiency, ensure health and safety, and circumvent potential social problems that may occur through the use of virtual environments (VE), virtual reality (VR), or augmented reality (AR) systems.
Examples of some of the types of systems they evaluate include driving simulators, video games, or augmented devices such as Google Glass.
For Virtual environments and virtual reality systems to be effective and well received by their users, researchers focus significant efforts on addressing human factors issues.
